Hawker Hurricane XII

The Hawker Hurricane, first of the monoplane eight-gun fighters to see service with the RAF, served with distinction in France during the spring of 1940 and in July - October was the unsung hero of the Battle of Britain, accounting for more than two-thirds of all German aircraft destroyed.

This aircraft is a Canadian-built Mark XII, serial number 5481, but has been restored as the Mark I flown by Geoffrey Page of No. 56 Squadron RAF; it displays the Battle of Britain vintage markings.

Manufactured by Canadian Car & Foundry, Montreal, Quebec Province, Canada.

First Canadian-built Hurricane Flight Trials were in January 1940.

First delivery to Great Britain was in February 1940.
