and Donald Douglas Sr.
The Museum of
Flying is located on the exact spot where Donald Douglas
Aircraft Company manufactured and tested both military and commercial
aircraft for 46 years. One of the most memorable commercial aircraft
produced by Douglas Aircraft was the DC-3. In 1974, a citizen's
group formed the Donald Douglas Museum and Library which officially opened in
1979. This served as the Museum of Flying's predecessor, which opened its
doors in 1989.
