California Aviation Hall of Fame to be housed at Air Museum

The Museum of Flying in Santa Monica, California announced today the establishment and formation of the California Aviation Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame will be a subsidiary entity to the Museum of Flying and will operate under the auspices of the Museums 501(c)(3) IRS non-profit designation.

The Hall of Fame Articles of Incorporation have been filed and approved by the Secretary of State of California. The Hall of Fame was established in order to recognize and pay tribute to the aviation visionaries of California that have made significant contributions to the advancement and development of Aviation and Aerospace fields. A special section of the new Museum of Flying building will be dedicated to display the Hall of Fame inductees along with images, artifacts, and ephemera of those individuals.

"We are honored to have the opportunity to present and preserve this important piece of California history in the new California Aviation Hall of Fame", stated David G. Price, Chairman of the Museum of Flying. "The Aviation and Aerospace Industries played a key role in the growth of the California economy through the aviation industry beginning in the early 1920’s and continues to do so today".

The Museum of Flying has executed a lease with the City of Santa Monica for the location at 3100 Airport Avenue at the Santa Monica Airport. The Museum is tentatively scheduled for a grand opening in the Spring-Summer of 2010.
